Our Point of View
Rhumbline’s approach is based on the premise that organizations
and teams are made up of individuals and as such have the characteristics
of individuals. Individuals need purpose and congruence to live
life to its fullest. In the same way, teams and organizations need
to have clear goals and an understanding of how they will achieve
them. To be successful, they must share a common purpose, a realistic
plan and the tools necessary to execute on it.
How are you, your team and your organization doing? Ask yourself
these questions:
- Can I describe my project / organization’s purpose in
my own words?
- Can I explain how my project benefits our stakeholders, customers, employees, members, partners and suppliers?
- When faced with conflicting priorities, can I identify which is most important based on where it fits into what we’re trying to achieve?
- Does what I do everyday contribute to the success of my team or organization? Am I making an impact?
- How do I know when I’ve achieved success and reached my goals?
- Do I enjoy coming to work everyday? Am I having any fun?
Our approach succeeds by applying multiple perspectives
to help drive a team to a shared understanding of what success means,
where the priorities are and why the effort is important in the
context of a larger vision.
Once the team has clarity of purpose, we use a simple four-step
approach to break the effort into manageable pieces that can
be delivered in a fixed time and with a fixed budget.
